PREPARE FOR YOUR NOTARY

PHYSICAL PRESENCE

All signers must be present. Every person signing the document(s) must be physically present at the time of the appointment.

All signers must be alert, aware of what they're signing, and acting of their own free will.

YOUR DOCUMENTS (READY BUT NOT SIGNED)

Complete the form. Ensure all pages are present and any blank spaces (except the signature line) are filled in. A notary cannot notarize a document with "blanks"

Do not sign yet! The notary must witness you signing the document. If you sign it before the notary arrives, you will likely have to sign it again in their presence.

VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO-ID

Arizona law requires notaries to verify your identity. Please provide one of the following original, unexpired documents:

Arizona Driver's License or ID Card, U.S. Passport or Passport Card, U.S. Military ID, Foreign Passport (must be stamped by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services), Inmate ID (if the signer is currently in custody)

INDEPENDENT WITNESSES (IF REQUIRED)

Some documents (like Wills or Powers of Attorney) require additional witnesses in addition to the notary.

Check your document. Look for "Witness Signature" lines.

Who can witness? Generally, witnesses must be at least 18 years old and "disinterested" (meaning they are not named in the document and have no financial stake in it).

Witnesses must also have valid photo IDs ready for the notary to verify.
